12. Can family members request assistance?

Yes, family members can absolutely request assistance. National Victims Assistance Services understands that many crash victims are not in a position to manage the details themselves—whether due to injury, hospitalization, emotional distress, or simply being overwhelmed by the situation. In those moments, a spouse, parent, child, or other close relative can step in and reach out on their behalf. The organization treats these requests with the same level of care and urgency as if the victim had contacted them directly.

Family‑initiated requests are especially common when the victim is recovering, dealing with medical appointments, or unsure how to navigate insurance and documentation. An advocate can help the family gather essential information, obtain the crash report, understand what steps need to be taken, and determine whether the victim may qualify for compensation or other support programs. This allows families to focus on caring for their loved one while still ensuring that important administrative steps aren’t missed.
