5. Are you affiliated with law enforcement or insurance companies?

National Victims Assistance Services is not affiliated with law enforcement agencies, insurance companies, or government departments. That independence is intentional. When someone is involved in a crash, they often feel caught between multiple parties—police reports, insurance adjusters, medical providers, and sometimes even opposing insurers. By remaining separate from those entities, the organization can focus entirely on the victim’s needs without any conflict of interest.

This independence also means advocates aren’t influenced by insurance company priorities or restricted by law‑enforcement procedures. Their role is to help victims understand what’s happening, what documents they need, and what steps will protect their rights. They can explain how to obtain a crash report, how to start or follow up on an insurance claim, and whether a victim might qualify for state compensation programs—all without being tied to any agency’s agenda.

For victims, that neutrality is a major advantage. It ensures the guidance they receive is centered on clarity, support, and practical help rather than institutional requirements. The organization’s only goal is to make sure victims have the information and resources they need to move forward confidently after a traumatic event.
