10. How do I opt out of text messages?

Opting out is simple and completely within your control. If at any point you decide you no longer want to receive text messages from National Victims Assistance Services, you can stop them instantly by replying “STOP” to any message you’ve received. The system processes that command automatically, so you won’t need to explain anything or speak with an advocate to end the messages. Once the request goes through, you’ll no longer receive updates, reminders, or follow‑up texts unless you choose to reach out again in the future.

This opt‑out option is built in to make sure victims never feel pressured or overwhelmed by communication. Some people prefer ongoing updates, while others only want help at specific moments. The organization respects both preferences, and the “STOP” command gives you full control over how and when you’re contacted. If you ever change your mind later, you can simply send another message to reconnect with an advocate.
